Jax's Birthday Cake Smash Session | Wildwood Native Park, CA
Updated: Feb 11
I first met Jax's family several months ago at my first round of mini sessions. They made the the drive out to Millerton Lake, and we connected instantly. Turns out we even had some mutual friends! I would say small world, except Fresno, CA isn't exactly all that small.
We chose Wildwood Native Park for its pretty scenery, open space, and sparse population (aka COVID-friendly). We started out with some family shots on the iconic bridge at Wildwood because why not?
I wanted a close-up of those little feets since Jax has started the walking journey (assisted, but still counts). Think Vans will want to sponsor?
Next up, we shifted location to follow the sun and took a recess for an outfit change!
Those little fingers.
I took along some pumpkins with me because Fall and whatnot. Also, babies love holding things and it helps keep them a bit more still for some high quality portraits.
It's also getting pretty close to Halloween, so we included some of him in his dinosaur costume:
The cutest dinosaur I ever did see.
And lastly, we concluded with his cake smash! If you haven't heard that before, a cake smash is a session generally done on a child's 1st birthday. It gives the lil one a chance to wreak havoc on a beautiful mini cake, and often results in very cute images.
As you can see, we kept the Fall/Halloween theme going.
As you can see, Jax had the best time. What you don't see, is that we all had a great time.
You also don't see when I almost fell in a river washing those pumpkins off after the cake smash. It was worth it.
