Nancy's Vineyard Portrait Session | Madera, CA
Updated: Feb 11
Several weeks ago, I put up an Instagram story asking for a model call. Nancy was referred by a mutual friend within minutes of the model call going up, and we had our portrait session planned out less than a day later.
(Also, a model call is when the subject agrees to be a model for the photographer in exchange for free images. For my model calls, the subjects help me take behind-the-scenes, try out new poses, locations, etc. in exchange for a few free images. I'll take a full album of images, and they get to choose their favorites. It's a win, win for everyone and quite fun.)
Nancy lived next to this beautiful vineyard in Madera, and when she reached out for the model call, I could barely contain my excitement. Being from the Central Valley, it had been a professional goal of mine to have a session in a vineyard. The grapes are so engraved into our culture and history, and I couldn't wait to capture that.
When we arrived at the vineyard, we connected instantly over our shared excitement. Nancy shared with me her childhood days of running through her grandparents' vineyard with her siblings. Nancy had many fond memories of vineyards, making the session even more of a treat to shoot.
Nancy was a natural in front of the camera, and you can definitely spot some Vogue moments in this blog:
Let's just say vineyard sessions are one of my favorites now.
